When you’re redesigning your bathroom, the countless bathroom floor options can seem a bit overwhelming. You’ll need to choose something that looks great but also can withstand the wet and humid conditions.
Another thing to bear in mind is that you want flooring that’s easy to clean. So which bathroom flooring material should you choose? We’ve put together 5 options that are easy to keep clean and look fabulous.
1. Glass tile
Glass tile is a great option for the bathroom because it is resistant to water and changes in temperature. It’s also eco-friendly, since lots of glass tiling is made from recycled glass.
Glass tile doesn’t just suit the floor. You could also use it for walls and counters, which will give your bathroom a sleek and modern look.
2. Ceramic tile
Ceramic tile is one of our favourite bathroom floor options. It’s easy to clean, durable and great for allergy sufferers. You’ll also find that it’s easy to install yourself, so you could save money with this type of flooring.
There are plenty of sizes, styles and colours to choose from. You won’t have any trouble finding something that matches the design of your new bathroom.
You might not have thought about rubber as an option, but for families it could be the best solution. It’s slip-resistant so little feet won’t go flying. Plus, it’s waterproof and easy to clean, so you won’t have to worry about unnecessary maintenance.
Don’t worry about rubber floor looking ugly – there are lots of different colours and patterns to choose from that will complement any style.
Cork is a great option if you want to make your bathroom a bit more eco-friendly. It’s a renewable resource and is springy which makes it warm and comfortable for feet just getting out of the bath or shower. Believe it or not, cork is resistant to water and therefore mould and bacteria.
Cork isn’t one of the mainstream bathroom floor options yet. But it’s certainly worth considering, especially if you’d like to create a spa-like feel to your bathroom.
Bamboo is another up-and-coming bathroom floor option. It’s a renewable resource like cork and looks like hardwood, but won’t scratch or get damaged by water.
There are lots of different colours of bamboo flooring available, so you’ll find something that suits your personal taste. You’ll get a great wood floor look without having to maintain it like you would with hardwood.
